Upstarter is led by Gill Wildman one of the founders of Plot since 2004 and a practitioner in design in the UK with over 25 years of experience. Gill has worked as a design strategist and innovation consultant for BBC, Facebook, Oculus, Nokia, Microsoft, Samsung, Harvard Graduate School of Design, NHS, Bath Council and other organisations in the UK public sector. She also was Design Manager at the UK Design Council, and has worked with many small startups.
At Plot she has designed and delivered programmes for large organisations amplifying their capacities for design and innovation; strategies and programmes to which start-ups would not normally be able to access. So her goal is in bringing the kinds of advantages that these larger companies have benefitted from, to small businesses.

From 2010 – 2011 Gill was the Nierenberg Chair of Design visiting professors at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, where the seed of Upstarter was planted.
